To date, the laboratory of the National Veterinary Institute in Pulawy has confirmed a positive result for bird flu H5N8 in three flocks of turkeys.
Currently, about 100 thousand turkeys can be eliminated. Of these, more than 25 thousand are already dead. The detected H5N8 bird flu virus is highly pathogenic in poultry, but no human infection has yet been reported. This is the same virus that has thinned into national bird flocks in 2016-2017.
The last human fatal case of bird flu was reported in 2014 in Canada.
The epidemiological situation associated with the emergence of bird flu in Poland is rapidly becoming more complicated.
