Agrobots robots harvest strawberries in California on a large scale. Agrobot, a Spanish agricultural robot manufacturer, has traveled to the United States, where its robots harvest strawberries in California.
The Agrobot SW 6010 Strawberry Harvest Robot uses artificial intelligence to recognize strawberries that are ripe for harvest. The machine is equipped with 30 robotic manipulators on which cameras are installed.
Cameras are capable of capturing from 10 to 30 images per second and can analyze whether strawberries meet the necessary requirements in order to be harvested, taking into account parameters such as size and color.
Then the robot crosses the stem and places the strawberries on the conveyor, in just 4 seconds. After that, strawberries are sorted and workers are collected in boxes. Agrobot SW 6010 can process up to 100 ha. in 3 days.
According to the development company, the design of the robot is simple and durable, which makes the car relatively cheap. For example, since the hands work independently of each other, the machine can still function if one or more hands break. In addition, various components are easy to replace, says a representative from Agrobot.
