After examining the results of palm oil imports in the first months of 2019, market analysts concluded that Russia purchased almost 19% more palm oil than a year earlier. Procurement figures reached 1.06 million tons of palm fruit oil and its fractions.

According to data provided by Rosstat employees, Russian purchases of this product continue to grow, while imports of fresh meat and frozen meat products are declining significantly. Its indicators are currently almost 37% less than the figures for the same period last year. In 2018, Russian buyers purchased about 409 thousand tons of meat products from foreign suppliers, as well as less than 222 thousand tons of poultry meat (almost 2% less than a year earlier).

Imports are also falling in the field of purchases of butter and (less than 74 thousand tons) and raw sugar. It is noteworthy that this type of sugar is a record among products, the volume of purchases of which fell significantly on the Russian market — by more than 55%.

Analysts on the Russian market attribute the drop in imports of meat, dairy and sugar products to the growth in domestic production of this group of goods.
