In the Belgorod region, farmers started the tradition of planting green manure after harvesting. This is stated in the message of the chief expert of the branch of FSBI "Rosselkhoztsentr" in the Belgorod region Vasily Melnikov.
Melnikov noted that almost all of the sown area of the region where early grains are grown are sown with green manure right after harvest.
When these plants grow and develop, they naturally release various organic substances into the soil that enrich it. In particular, mustard, which is one of the most popular siderates, has this property.
Mustard as a siderate is able to protect potatoes from wireworm and late blight.
It secretes a number of aliphatic acids, such as acetic, citric, oxalic, valerianic, malonic and fumaric, aromatic acids and sterols.
All this in combination has the best effect on the growth of plants and beneficial soil bacteria, explains Vasily Melnikov, chief expert of the FSBI Rosselkhoztsentr branch in the Belgorod Region.
He added that crop mustard sowing is much more effective than black steam in the fight against rhizome and root shoot weeds, especially those that are malicious like creeping wheatgrass, field bindweed and others.
- Volgograd fields have more mustard, flax and camelina.
- Ukrainian farmers export 90% of all mustard grown.
- Earlier we reported that the Stavropol Territory raises rates on mustard.
