As of August 28, 2019, 32 events were recorded in 29 Russian regions, which entailed the infliction of tangible damage to agriculture as a result of emergency situations and natural disasters.
According to preliminary estimates, Russian agricultural producers lost 11 billion rubles, according to the report of the President of the National Union of Agricultural Insurers (NSA) Korney Bizhdov.
A number of regions of the Russian Federation are still continuing to assess the damage suffered. This list does not include cases of large-scale death of bees, which, according to experts, occurred due to human fault, said Bizhdov. He noted that not all disasters were accompanied by the introduction of an emergency.
In 2018, emergencies were declared in 28 regions of the Russian Federation. The losses of the agricultural sector were estimated at 11.3 billion rubles. But only 7.3 billion was documented. And the farmers paid 3.7 billion rubles.
According to Bizhov, the losses incurred so far cannot be compared with last year, since not all regions have submitted the data yet. But this year, large-scale disasters occurred with a greater frequency than in 2018. At the same time, this year, farmers are more actively reporting damage. So, they often report the death of winter crops and the loss of spring crops.
