Farmers in Buryatia are increasingly allotting sown areas for triticale, a crop that is a hybrid of wheat and rye. This is stated in the message of the director of the FSBI "Rosselkhoztsentr" in Buryatia Namzhil Mardvaev, which he left on his page on the social network Facebook.
According to Mardvaev, triticale inherited the best qualities from parental forms, bypassing them in terms of resistance to weather whims and grain quality. It is ideal for a diet that is gaining popularity around the world.
In addition, triticale is an excellent forage crop. In addition, it gives a lot of green mass, the amount of which is higher than that of other grains.
Previously, growing triticale on an industrial scale in Buryatia was difficult due to the lack of zoned varieties. But now they already exist, and this opens up bright prospects for local farmers.
In 2019, at the experimental site of the Buryat Agricultural Academy on sparse light chestnut soil, the species productivity of triticale was 36 centners / ha.
Today, the area under triticale is over 300 hectares. in the territory of Tarbagatai, Bichursky, Yevrainsky districts.
