Brazilian meat processing plant JBS SA said its Seara processed food division will begin selling chicken products to India.

JBS SA begins to develop new markets, as In a statement on April 25, JBS said that Seara was the first Brazilian company to give India permission to sell chicken products.

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, in 2019, per capita consumption of chicken in India will increase to 2.23 kg as citizens' personal incomes increase, compared to 2.18 kg the previous year.

JBS reported that the first delivery of chicken thighs and chicken legs to India was planned for the next few weeks, however, the company refused to disclose the volume of supplies, citing strategic reasons.

The first batch of “chicken cargo” will arrive at the port of Jawaharlal Nehru, and one of the local companies, the name of which is not announced, will deal with its distribution.

According to the United States International Poultry Council, in 2019, poultry meat is likely to become the most consumed meat protein in the world, as an outbreak of African swine fever is changing the global structure of meat.
