The petition with a request to ban the use of plastic bags at retail outlets was submitted to the Vinnitsa City Council on March 4, 2019. The author of the petition writes that such packages are very polluting, because they cannot be recycled or incinerated.

Today, packages of polyethylene are offered in every supermarket or ordinary store in the city. But their harm lies in the fact that such packages decompose for a very long time, releasing harmful substances. But they cannot be processed in any way. It is also dangerous to burn packages, since dioxin is released during their combustion. In addition, they are garbage that spoils the view of the city.

The problem of using plastic bags applies only to Vinnitsa. Most EU countries have switched to environmentally friendly packaging. The author of the petition proposes to replace polyethylene with paper, eco-bags, fabric bags.
