Russian scientists from Magadan managed to develop 2 new cold-resistant varieties of potatoes. New varieties were named "Kolymsky" and "Arctic".
The resulting potato crop is selective. At the same time, specialists record a good potato crop.
Magadan agronomists do not stop their breeding work and are currently preparing to register six more new varieties of potatoes.
According to experts of the EastFruit project, on the Yamal Peninsula, located in the northern part of Western Siberia in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District of Russia, work began on the harvesting of potatoes.
This year, Salekhard agrarians planted potatoes of two varieties - “gala” and “evolution”. Both varieties are early ripening and are characterized by a shortened growing season, which is important in the short summer conditions of the northern region.
Weather conditions did not allow vegetable growers to start planting potatoes on time. Digging potatoes began in the second half of June. In less than two months, the tubers grew and produced about 10 tons of the crop, which was immediately sent to the shelves.
