For the sixth month in a row, registration of new agricultural tractors with a capacity of more than 50 horsepower has been declining in the UK.
Since the beginning of 2019, 2667 new agricultural tractors have been registered, which is 265 less than in the same period last year. February 2019 was the lowest since December 2010, only 480 new tractors were registered this month, which is 18% lower compared to February 2018.
According to the Association of Agricultural Engineers (AEA), this year’s slowdown in tractor registration "is likely to be partly due to Brexit uncertainty that affects farmers' desire to invest in new cars in the short term."The Association predicts that, given delivery times, these factors may continue to affect registration in the coming months, even if the uncertainty with Brexit is quickly resolved.
And for the whole last year in the UK 12 102 new tractors were registered. This figure was approximately 1% higher than the total for 2017. In fact, it was the largest annual figure in the last four years.
