The key players in the pig-breeding industry of the Primorsky Territory intend to begin in the very near future to restore the number of their livestock, which has significantly decreased after the attack of foot and mouth disease in the region.
Producers look to the future with hope and convince themselves and the public that they can start producing livestock in live weight, as well as meat products by mid-2020.
It will not be superfluous to note that the epidemic of such a dangerous disease as foot and mouth disease reduced the pork production in Primorye by a third. Such information was shared by employees of the public relations department at the Department of Agriculture and Food of the region.
The department also noted that over the past six months, regional producers have released to the market only a little more than four thousand two hundred tons of pork. And this is thirty-five percent lower than the figures for the same date in 2018.
Due to the fact that the epidemic has passed and the risks have decreased, producers of the Primorsky Territory plan to purchase new individuals at the beginning of next year.
Meanwhile, industry experts in the region note: a decrease in pork production did not provoke a shortage of meat products in the regional market. And now, a kilogram package of domestic pig meat costs an average of two hundred and forty rubles to a coastal consumer.
