The other day, representatives of the Beijing Centers for Disease Control (People's Republic of China) released information that one of the residents of the country had contracted a dangerous bird flu virus (strain H5N6).
We are talking about a fifty-nine-year-old Chinese woman who felt unwell at the beginning of this month.
"The woman began to get sick from August 6, but she was hospitalized only five days later, on August 11, when the patient's condition was already qualified as critical." - noted in the message.
In the process of assessing the patient’s condition and collecting an anamnesis, it turned out that a woman visited one of the Chinese poultry farms shortly before feeling unwell. Soon, in the laboratory, it was possible to establish that the woman was infected with the bird flu virus.
Sanitary experts immediately went to the poultry farm indicated by the patient. As a result, analyzes of the biomaterial of birds contained in the facility confirmed that the bird flu virus with the H5N6 strain is still present in the enterprise. It turned out that the infected bird was delivered to the Chinese capital from another province, the name of which is not specified.
Note that bird flu is transmitted from an infected individual to a healthy airborne droplet. In this regard, the Government of the People's Republic of China strongly recommends avoiding any contact with birds (both domestic and wild) and, if possible, use personal protective equipment - for example, medical masks.
