The seminar "Lavender - elements of agricultural production technology", which took place in Nikolaev, gathered both professionals and beginners who were keen on lavender.

The event was attended by real "lavender" from the Nikolaev, Odessa and Vinnitsa regions who are interested in or grow lavender. The meeting began with a visit to the nursery with seedlings of lavender, hyssop and other unique plants on the territory of Nikolayevzelenkhoz LLC.

After the tour, a photo session was held among lavender, where participants collected bouquets of different varieties, then - consultations from Oleg Kovalenko and Lyudmila Svidenko, a specialist at the Kakhovka Research Station of the Rice Institute.

The speakers discussed in detail the subtleties of agricultural technologies for growing each of the varieties presented, taking into account the composition of the soil, climatic conditions and labor costs.

“As for sales markets, they are multidirectional. You can sell seedlings, actively buy lavender for landscaping your own personal plots, making perfumes, in winemaking, ”said Oleg Kovalenko, head of the Department of Plant Growing and Gardening of the Nikolaev National Agrarian University.

Lyudmila Svidenko in the continuation of the discussion of the topic offered the participants a detailed consultation on the technology of growing lavender. All stages of the technology were considered, starting with seeds, as well as the medicinal properties of lavender.

Lyudmila brought with her and presented several types of lavender with detailed characteristics of each, and also answered all the questions that interested the participants in the event.

The "Lavender" seminar was organized by the LASKA Foundation together with the Nikolaev Agricultural University with the support of the Ukrainian Horticulture Business Development Project (UHBDP).
