The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation expects that this year sugar beets will delight domestic farmers with a generous harvest and allow them to produce at least 6 million tons of sugar.
Note that this figure is today a record for Russia over the past few years. However, the harvest of 2018, which was equal to 41 million tons of beets, allows you to make such high-profile forecasts.
To date, sugar reserves in Russian storages are about 5.11 million tons. If the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture come true, and in 2019 it will be possible to make six million tons of sugar from beets, Russia will not only increase its export potential and credibility in the global sugar market. Farmers will be able to fully satisfy the sugar needs of Russians, and they will not have to turn to foreign sellers for help. In addition, product prices will remain enviable stability.
