Based on the information shared by the compilers of the final forecast for the almond crop, this year the volume of production will be significantly lower.
So, it is expected to collect two million two hundred thousand pounds of almonds (in terms of tons - nine hundred ninety seven thousand nine hundred), which is three and a half percent lower than the volumes obtained from the harvesting campaign in 2018.
Such data was shared by representatives of the National Agricultural Statistics Service under the United States Department of Agriculture. It is known that today American farmers massively send almonds to countries such as Japan, China, Korea and India, as well as to the markets of European countries and the Middle East.
California farmers, who are massively engaged in growing almonds, note that this culture for them carries a lot of opportunities and prospects. That is why many farmers refuse to grow crops such as vegetables and fruits in favor of almonds and other walnuts - pistachios and walnuts.
However, this year, weather conditions significantly affected the volume of almonds, reducing them by ten, or even fifteen percent, which led to an instant increase in prices for this crop.
As a result, a pound of almonds went up by three tenths of a dollar. American farmers are seriously concerned about the situation.
