The semi-white mushroom, as its name implies, is a relative of the beloved cep. Inexperienced fans of "silent hunting" often confuse them. The second name of this species - yellow boletus, is considered popular. In Latin it sounds - hemileccinum impolitum. This mushroom grows in a mixed and deciduous forest. He loves oaks and limestone soil. By its taste characteristics it is not inferior to white.
Description
The semi-white mushroom has a hat from 6 to 21 cm. In the beginning, in young boletus, it is convex, with time it becomes pillow-shaped or open. The skin on the hat can be smooth or velvety.
Her color is:
- clay ocher;
- light gray;
- brown.
The tubular layer of tone:
- lemon yellow;
- golden yellow;
- yellow green.
The leg has a height of 6 to 10 cm and a diameter of 3.5 to 6 cm. Its upper part is yellow, the base is dark brown, sometimes with a red belt. The appearance of the legs is squat, tuberoid-swollen, with time it becomes rough, cylindrical or fibrous.
Did you know? Mushrooms are much older than dinosaurs, scientists agree that boles have been living on the planet for 400 million years. Of the existing species, only ferns can boast of the same age. Moreover, in contrast to them, which are rather crushed, the modern mushroom is practically no different from its ancestor.
The pulp is quite thick, has a bright yellow tint. On the cut, the color practically does not change. In rare cases, in overripe representatives, the flesh may slightly pinkish or turn blue, but not immediately, but within half an hour. The raw mushroom tastes slightly sweet to the taste, its smell gives off carbolic acid.
Characteristics of a half-white mushroom
Hemileccinum impolitum has a number of properties and characteristics characteristic of this species only. The diameter of the upper part of the plant can grow up to 23 cm. Its hue is mostly yellow, but can darken to brown. To the touch, the upper part of the fungus is smooth; it begins to glide during precipitation.
At the base, the leg of a half-white bolt is thicker than its white, and its shade is more yellow. The tubular part of the semi-white mushroom has a variety of yellowish shades, while the white one is light. The flesh of this species is also characterized by a yellowish color, in addition to this, it starts to smell like carbolic acid on a scrap.
Spread
This type of mushroom is considered thermophilic. It can be found in the central part and in the south of Russia, in the Carpathian mountains and in the eastern part of Europe. These boils love moist calcareous and clay soil. They can be found in hornbeam, beech, coniferous and deciduous forests. From the trees, these mushrooms choose "living" under oaks, beeches and pines.
Edibility
According to the assurances of experienced mushroom pickers, this type of mushroom is considered one of the most delicious. According to the official classification of mushrooms, semi-white belongs to category No. 2. But in some sources you can find information according to which hemileccinum impolitum is considered conditionally edible.
Did you know? Despite the fact that 80% of the water is removed from mushrooms, they still remain a fairly high-calorie product, since the amount of protein in them ranges from 0.9 to 3.3%.
This is due to the specific smell that is released when the plant is harvested. Although when boiling, all unpleasant discharge disappears. Also, long-term drying helps in the fight against aroma.
Pick time
As a rule, the collection of half-white mushroom occurs from July to early October. In places with a warmer climate than the center of Russia, these sicknesses can be found in May and November. Unfortunately, this genus of mushrooms is rare. But sometimes, under favorable warm conditions, a rich harvest happens on it.
